We Serve

Lions of Oregon & Northern California are a part of an international network of 1.4 million men and women in 200 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. Lions are best known for working to end preventable blindness, the giving of eyeglasses and hearing aids for the needy and local service projects.

Mission Statement of Lions Clubs International:

"To create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation."

District 36-O: You Can Do This! Create the Ripple Effect

Five people. That’s all it takes.

Five people with caring hearts, a shared vision, and a commitment to make their community a better place.

You don’t have to start big. You just have to start!

A Lions Club Branch begins with five people who share a passion for helping others. They don’t need to have all the answers, a big budget, or years of experience. They simply need the desire to serve.

With the support of an established local Lions Club and Lions Clubs International, these five people have access to mentorship, resources, leadership guidance, and the worldwide fellowship of Lions.

What can five people accomplish?

Imagine five people coming together to support our veterans, making sure those who served our country are not forgotten. Imagine helping children become better readers by providing books, tutoring, and encouragement. Imagine organizing neighborhood cleanups, planting trees, and protecting our environment for future generations.

Or perhaps their passion is helping families in need, supporting seniors, or bringing hope to people experiencing hardship.

The possibilities are endless! Choose a need that matters to you and turn your compassion into action.

Your First Step: Find Four Other People!

Start by inviting four friends, neighbors, coworkers, or community members who share your desire to serve. Talk about the needs you see in your community. Choose a cause that inspires you. Then contact an established Lions Club in your area and ask for help sponsoring and mentoring your new Branch.

You don’t have to figure everything out alone. Your local Lions Club can help you get started!

Remember, our success isn’t measured by how many projects we complete or how much money we raise. It is measured by the lives we touch, the suffering we help reduce, the opportunities we create, and the happiness we bring to others.

One small act of kindness can create a ripple. Five people working together can create waves of positive change.

You can do this. You can start something meaningful. You can create the ripple effect!

District 36-O: Five people. One mission. Countless lives changed. Together, WE SERVE!

“Will you not help me hasten the day when there shall be no preventable blindness; no little deaf, blind child untaught; no blind man or woman unaided? I appeal to you Lions, you who have your sight, your hearing, you who are strong and brave and kind. Will you not constitute yourselves Knights of the Blind in this crusade against darkness?”
