As we get this year tolling with new officers, let’s all try to outline a service project for each month.  There are so many seasonal quick and easy ones…put your heads together and brainstorm it.  Ideas don’t have to be expensive many can be free.  Let’s put this District on the map because, ”WE SERVE”.

All Lion’s can come to any meeting, find out when a nearby Club is meeting, Call the President about one week before as a ‘heads up’, arrive on time, sit and listen.  Ot maybe ‘ice cream bomb” them with ice cream bars or dixie cups (remember spoons).  We’re looking for fun fellowship, be polite. 

The folks in District O, most of Eastern Oregon, got a grant from LCI to help their local farmers& Ranchers groups afford GAS.  They’re the nearby folks who go out first to control local disasters and can use a lot of fuel for their rigs, that many can not afford.  This is something most of the areas in Oregon could take advantage of, any interest? I have some of the Grant information. Let me know, there’s a lot of fire season left.  These grants are available to help meet unmet needs as communities fight fires, or deal with other kinds of emergency…floods, wind storms, etc. 

THANK YOU, from your District Governor, Barb Dehlinger and husband Charlie, who went to Hong Kong to the Lions International Convention.  There were classes for the District Governors, Elect; then 4 days of the Convention.  This City is on interconnected islands.  The lush greenery was quite a change from anything in Oregon. Fruit growing on these bushes and trees is free to the public, but no fruit was seen.  The classes were informational pointing to growth & conformity between clubs.  We traded pins, our popular “Elephant Pin” so we ran out, most folks wouldn’t give a pin unless there is one in exchange.  The food was vey good, especially the of “dim sum” at the celebration for the new DG’s elect, highlighted by a huge Chinese Dragon winding through the tables.  My installation with other DGE’s from all around the world was an experience I’ll never forget.  We went to a near-by tram that took us to a mountain top we could see for miles around, including, a huge Buddha on nearby mountain.
