We Serve

Lions of Oregon & Northern California are a part of an international network of 1.4 million men and women in 200 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. Lions are best known for working to end preventable blindness, the giving of eyeglasses and hearing aids for the needy and local service projects.

Mission Statement of Lions Clubs International:

"To create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation."

District 36G Has Long Stood As A Model Of What Lionism Looks Like At Its Best

From the banks of the Columbia River to communities across our region, District 36G has long stood as a model of what Lionism looks like at its best—service-driven, community-focused, and powered by dedicated members who care deeply about their neighbors.

Today, that legacy continues—but it also depends on what we do next.  District 36G is at a pivotal moment. As we look ahead, we are actively seeking the next generation of leaders to step forward and help guide our district into the future. The role of District Governor and other leadership positions are not just vacancies to fill—they are opportunities to shape the direction, energy, and impact of Lions across our communities.

Clubs are navigating changes in membership, evolving community needs, and new opportunities for service. Communication across clubs, coordination of projects, and leadership development are more important now than ever. The decisions made in the next year will influence the trajectory of District 36G for years to come.  That’s why your leadership matters-right now.

Leadership here isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about:  Bringing people together.  Supporting clubs so they can thrive.  Encouraging new ideas while honoring tradition. District 36G has always been filled with individuals who quietly lead through action. Now, we are asking those individuals to take the next step.

If you’ve ever wanted to see your club or district grow stronger, had ideas for improving communication or service, felt pride in what Lions accomplish in our communities, believed you could make a difference with a broader platform.  Then you are exactly who we need.

One of the greatest strengths of District 36G is its people.  Leaders are supported by fellow Lions, past district leaders, and a network of members who want to see you succeed. Mentorship, guidance, and teamwork are built into the fabric of our district.  Stepping into leadership doesn’t mean standing alone—it means standing with others.  If you have ever thought about taking on a greater role within Lions, this is your moment. Talk with your club. Reach out to current district leadership. Ask questions. Explore what the role looks like. Most importantly—consider saying yes.

Will you not help me hasten the day when there shall be no preventable blindness; no little deaf, blind child untaught; no blind man or woman unaided? I appeal to you Lions, you who have your sight, your hearing, you who are strong and brave and kind. Will you not constitute yourselves Knights of the Blind in this crusade against darkness?
