District O March Update

As we enter the final quarter of the Lions year, it is a good time to refocus on what keeps our clubs strong. The months ahead are important, and our attention must remain on club health, meaningful community service, and recruiting new members. By staying committed to these priorities, we ensure our clubs remain active, engaged, and ready to serve.

Lions across District O continue to make a positive impact in their communities. I recently enjoyed visiting the Carlton Yamhill Lions Club, where I attended a club meeting and observed school vision screening events. These screenings highlight the important role Lions play in improving the lives of children and families, and I commend the club members for their dedication and teamwork. I was also honored to attend the Beaverton Lions Club’s 85th anniversary, a remarkable milestone that reflects many years of service, fellowship, and community involvement.

Our district recently hosted a Guiding Lion training program, bringing together 25 Lions from two districts for a day of learning and collaboration. The training was led by David Bartley, who provided outstanding, in-depth instruction focused on strengthening clubs and developing effective leadership. Thank you, David, for your commitment and for sharing your knowledge and experience.

Looking ahead, we are planning a leadership training program in May for club and district officers. This training will help prepare current and incoming leaders with the tools and confidence needed to guide our clubs successfully.

I also encourage clubs to begin planning for the April Lions Service Initiative, which focuses on the environment. Clubs can participate by planting trees, organizing environmental clean-up projects, promoting recycling and waste management, or hosting environmental awareness programs. These activities are great ways to serve our communities while protecting our environment.

Thank you to all Lions of District O for your continued service and dedication. Let’s finish this Lions year strong—together. 🦁💙

Will you not help me hasten the day when there shall be no preventable blindness; no little deaf, blind child untaught; no blind man or woman unaided? I appeal to you Lions, you who have your sight, your hearing, you who are strong and brave and kind. Will you not constitute yourselves Knights of the Blind in this crusade against darkness?
