Lions Clubs of Multiple District 36, Oregon and Northern California

We Serve

Lions of Oregon & Northern California are a part of an international network of 1.4 million men and women in 200 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. Lions are best known for working to end preventable blindness, the giving of eyeglasses and hearing aids for the needy and local service projects.

Mission Statement of Lions Clubs International:

"To create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation."

Greetings Lions of Oregon & Northern California!

My motto “Leave a Lion Legacy” is alive & well in Lions all over our District!

Kids are back in school. I hope you are all ready for Vision Screening season to begin. If you have never been involved in Vision Screening, give it a try. A lot of kids do not know they have a problem until they put on a pair of new prescribed glasses and realize all the things they have been missing. The stories are heartwarming.

I also hope you realize how important it is for all Lions Clubs to be active in our schools. Whether it’s the Peace Poster Contest or Flags for 1st Graders or reviving Lions Quest and of course, Vision Screening. Youth represent our future and any positive interaction leaves a lasting impression on not only kids, but their parents & teachers. Remember to take event flyers and/or brochures to the screenings. Use any opportunity to let folks know how great Lions are & the good they do in our communities

My team is busy working on getting new clubs. Four Lions from our District entered a Chili Cook off at the Veneta Harvest Festival on September 13th. The idea was to have a good time competing and a fun time getting to know potential Lions from Veneta. We just want to spread the word about all the good that Lions do to give back to our communities and inspire them to start a new club.

I have visited over half the clubs in my District. My goal is to visit each of them at least twice in my Lion year. I learn so much & try to find ways to help each one of them.

It seems like a long time away, but I hope you will consider attending the District 36R convention. It will be at the Holiday Inn Express in Springfield. The 1-day convention will be on February 7, 2026 and the District 36R Cabinet meeting will be February 6th. I invite you all to attend and have fun celebrating our successes. It’s just another way to meet other Lions & find out what makes each club a success, in their own way.

Yours in Lionism,

District 36R Governor Lion Karen

Will you not help me hasten the day when there shall be no preventable blindness; no little deaf, blind child untaught; no blind man or woman unaided? I appeal to you Lions, you who have your sight, your hearing, you who are strong and brave and kind. Will you not constitute yourselves Knights of the Blind in this crusade against darkness?
