We Serve

Lions of Oregon & Northern California are a part of an international network of 1.4 million men and women in 200 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. Lions are best known for working to end preventable blindness, the giving of eyeglasses and hearing aids for the needy and local service projects.

Mission Statement of Lions Clubs International:

"To create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation."

Fall 2025 District 36R Governor message

I have spent a lot of hours driving around the state of Oregon visiting clubs in my District and am always amazed at the beauty of our State. By the end of November, I will have visited all 31 clubs. What an inspiring experience it has been. My adventures, along with a lot of really good Lions information, can be found on our Lions District 36R website.

For Lions first Week of Service, Oct. 4-12th, (which focused on Mental Health & Well Being), District IT Chair Lion Dave Nielson & I arranged an online meeting on Oct. 9th with Dr Stacy Nielson with the Eugene VA. Her focus was on the basics of mental health.

District 36R is presenting a Guiding Lions training & certification on Nov. 8th from 9 am to 2 pm at the Tangent Training Center. You can register on our website. Guiding Lions are such an important factor in helping existing clubs that may be struggling, as well as helping new clubs start off with the information they need to succeed. I urge any Lion who wants to improve themselves in their leadership skills to become a Guiding Lion.

My #1 focus is to get a Vice District Governor. My #2 focus is marketing Lions Clubs. This will be done in a variety of ways including radio ads, Facebook ads, billboards & participating in fun activities like a Service Carnival that I have planned for late February or March 2026.

Another goal is to increase attendance in Conventions. District R’s is Feb. 7, 2026 and MD 36’s convention is May 29-30th. Both are in Springfield, OR. Please save the date on your calendars and prepare to have fun, informative conventions.

Thank you for all you do & let’s always celebrate Lions & Leave a Lions Legacy

District 36R Governor Karen

Will you not help me hasten the day when there shall be no preventable blindness; no little deaf, blind child untaught; no blind man or woman unaided? I appeal to you Lions, you who have your sight, your hearing, you who are strong and brave and kind. Will you not constitute yourselves Knights of the Blind in this crusade against darkness?
